Probe Against LAFD Captain About His Vaccine Video

Firefighter investigated for vaccine video

There is an investigation against Captain Cristian Granucci of the Los Angeles Fire Department after he criticized his union Local 112 and described vaccine mandates as tyranny. A video uploaded on Telegram shows the captain in an LAFD shirt and hat and calling out the union and other members of it for their silence on the vaccine matter.

The Los Angeles City Council passed a vaccine order for every city worker that requires all employees to get fully vaccinated on or before October 01, 2021. Granucci is not only criticizing the union Local 112 but he threatened litigation against the organization as well.

Granucci stated that he and other members of Local 112 wish to give the union the chance to step up and make it right. Granucci also said that the members have a lawyer hired to do legal services anytime they require the services. Granucci described the attorney as a shark, meaning an expert in the field of law.

The union told National Public Radio that it has promoted vaccine administrations from its staffers but does not back any city policy that makes it an employment condition. Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti is yet to sign the mandate but stated that he supports the city council’s move.

Garcetti stated that Los Angeles has dedicated and hard-working workers who tried to save people’s lives in the trickiest year of their lives without failing to consider their effort to make the city safer, more equitable and stronger. The Delta strain of coronavirus keeps spreading, so Garcetti highlighted the importance of getting vaccinated at the earliest. As Council President Nury Martinez and Garcetti said earlier, the requirement would aid in protecting not only the people who keep Los Angeles running but also its inhabitants who depend on their services.
