On September 20, 2021, a DUI collision took the life of Heath McCormick and contributed to the arrest of Anaheim resident Eric Lopez. As per police, the accident happened at the point where Meats Avenue and North Orange Olive Road intersect. Dispatchers responded immediately to it.
Reports suggest that the Anaheim resident was southbound in a Nissan vehicle along the road, whereas McCormick was riding a motorcycle to the north. When Lopez tried to turn left onto the avenue, he crashed into McCormick’s motorcycle. McCormick then died of his injuries sustained from the collision in spite of the attempts to save his life.
Lopez not only remained at the spot but also cooperated with those investigators who feel that he was on marijuana when it happened. Consequently, law enforcement took Lopez into custody as a vehicular manslaughter suspect. As of writing this, no more information has been released.
